The Department of General Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly, hosted the first-ever National Conference of Women Physicians of India – WoPICON 2025 on April 12–13, 2025. Based on the theme “Celebrating Women in Medicine: Towards a Healthier Future”, the landmark event brought together accomplished women physicians, health professionals, and medical experts from across the nation.
Held in collaboration with the API Bareilly City Chapter, WoPICON 2025 aligned with UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and spotlighted the outstanding contributions of women in the medical field while addressing the future of healthcare through leadership, inclusion, and opportunity.
Padmashree awardee Professor Dr. Alaka Deshpande (the first lady physician to receive Padmashree in 2001) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Participants engaged in insightful sessions, dynamic panel discussions, and research presentations, along with a vibrant cultural program showcasing the creative talents of women medicos.
World Diabetes Day: 14.11.2024
On World Diabetes Day, SRMS Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Bareilly, in collaboration with the Department of General Medicine and the Department of Community Medicine, conducted a ‘WALKATHON’ – an Awareness Walk for Diabetes & overall well-being – starting from the medical college campus and culminating at the hospital premises. The inauguration of a Free Diabetes Camp alongside a Nukkad Natak (street play) was an added highlight.
The camp saw over 400 people screened free for various investigations, including HbA1C, TSH, BMD, Uric Acid, Blood Sugar, BP, Neuropathy Test, Lipid Profile, and Microalbuminuria. During the day, an awareness session stressing the significance of diet and exercise was also delivered by Dr. Deepak Das.
Diabetic Conclave 12.2.2023
The Department of General Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly, organized its ‘1st SRMS DIABETES CONCLAVE 2023’ in association with the Clinical Cardio Diabetic Society of India (CCDSI) on February 12, 2023, at LT-4, Medical College Building, SRMS IMS. The conclave witnessed leading minds from the healthcare community across India, who delivered special addresses on the topic and shared opportunities along the diagnosis-care-treatment pathway.
The organizing team of the Diabetes Conclave comprised Shri Dev Murti (Chief Patron & Chairman, SRMS Trust); Aditya Murti, Dr. S.B. Gupta, and Dr. Nirmal Yadav as Patrons; Dr. Smita Gupta as Organizing Chairman; Dr. Anil K. Virmani, Dr. M.P. Rawal, and Dr. M.K. Mehrotra as Scientific Secretaries; and Dr. Shruti Sharma and Dr. Deepak K. Das as Organizing Secretaries.
Nephrocon: 11-12.03.2023
The Department of Nephrology (A Unit of Department of Medicine) at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly, organized the 1st Nephrology CME – Nephrocon 2023 on March 11–12, 2023. The theme of the CME was “Renal diseases and electrolytes”. The event brought together leading nephrology experts to discuss current trends in the diagnosis and treatment of various renal diseases and electrolyte abnormalities.
UPAPICON: 28th–29th.10.2023
The Department of General Medicine at Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences (SRMS IMS), Bareilly, conducted the 40th Annual Conference of the Association of Physicians of India (API UP Chapter) – ‘UPAPICON-2023’ on the theme ‘Pearls of Medicine’ on October 28th–29th, 2023. The conference emphasized the latest advancements in medicine, diagnostic tools, and treatment technologies, and served as a unique platform that brought clinicians together on current topics and trends in medicine.
The main attractions of the conference included guest lectures by stalwarts, a dedicated scientific programme, scientific paper presentations, a brain‑storming PG quiz, interactive scientific sessions, orations on intriguing topics, workshops, poster presentations, and a prestigious award ceremony.
UPAPICON-2023 was an intellectually stimulating event and a valuable opportunity for both postgraduates and undergraduates to showcase their research work, fostering a dynamic environment of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
